Faculty members Prof. Dr. İsa Sağbaş, Prof. Dr. Ceyda Kükrer Mutlu, Assoc. Prof. Dr. İsmail Ciğerci, and Res. Asst. Yunus Emre Karabulutoğlu shared their experiences with colleagues regarding their participation in the TÜBİTAK 2219 Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Abroad Program and 2214-A Doctoral Research Fellowship Abroad Program in various countries.
Prof. Dr. İsa Sağbaş conducted research at Brunel University London (UK) between 01.06.2023–30.09.2023;
Prof. Dr. Ceyda Kükrer Mutlu carried out her research at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) between 01.12.2024–01.06.2025;
Assoc. Prof. Dr. İsmail Ciğerci was hosted at the University of Reading (UK) between 02.09.2024–01.09.2025;
Res. Asst. Yunus Emre Karabulutoğlu conducted research at the University of Bologna (Italy) between 01.09.2024–01.09.2025.
The meeting began with an opening speech by the Dean, Prof. Dr. Gökhan Demirtaş. During the session, the scholars who had participated in TÜBİTAK fellowship programs shared their insights on university selection, application processes, challenges encountered abroad, academic gains, and opportunities for international collaboration.
The speakers emphasized the valuable opportunities offered by TÜBİTAK’s fellowship programs and underlined that international academic experience contributes significantly not only to individual academic development but also to the research capacity of the faculty. Highlights from the presentations included interdisciplinary interaction, methodological advancements, co-publication and project opportunities, and the expansion of academic networks.
Participants noted that the experience-sharing meeting was highly beneficial—especially for academics planning to apply for the programs in future cycles. The faculty administration stated that such events would continue to be organized regularly and reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a culture of benefiting from international research funding opportunities.
The meeting concluded with acknowledgments and expressions of gratitude to the speakers.
