A conference titled “Information Disorders: Disinformation and Conspiracy Theories” was organized by the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of Afyon Kocatepe University.
The event, held at the Prof. Dr. Sabri Bektöre Conference Hall, was attended by the Dean of the Faculty Prof. Dr. Gökhan Demirtaş, the Dean of Bolvadin Faculty of Applied Sciences and Head of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration Prof. Dr. Mustafa Fişne, along with academic staff and students.
During the conference, Dr. Durukan Ayan discussed different forms of information disorders such as misinformation, malinformation, and disinformation, emphasizing that disinformation represents the most dangerous type due to its deliberate intent to manipulate public perception. The presentation also addressed the characteristics and spread of conspiracy theories.
The importance of critical thinking, media literacy, and verifying information through multiple reliable sources was highlighted as key strategies for combating misinformation in the digital age.
