Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences

The origins of the Faculty date back to the decision of the Council of Professors of the Eskişehir Academy of Economic and Commercial Sciences on October 12, 1974 (Decision No. 23) to establish the Afyon School of Public Finance and Accounting. The school began education in the 1974–1975 academic year with 350 students in the building located at the corner of Afyon High School. A few years later, it continued its activities under the name Afyon Faculty of Financial Sciences, until its status was restructured in 1982.

With the higher education reforms of 1982, the Eskişehir Academy of Economic and Commercial Sciences was reorganized as Anadolu University, and the Afyon Faculty of Financial Sciences was converted back into the Afyon School of Public Finance and Accounting under the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of Anadolu University. In 1987, it regained faculty status and was renamed the Afyon Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences.

Following the publication of the founding law of Afyon Kocatepe University in the Official Gazette on July 11, 1992, the institution’s affiliation and name were changed, and it became the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences under the Rectorate of Afyon Kocatepe University.

While continuing education with the Departments of Economics, Public Finance, and Business Administration, the Council of Higher Education authorized the establishment of the Departments of International Trade and Finance and Business Administration (English) on April 13, 2006 (Decisions No. 8932 and 8933). On August 18, 2008 (Decision No. 22329), the Department of Public Administration was established, later renamed Political Science and Public Administration in 2016. The Business Administration (English) Department was merged with the Business Administration Department by the decision of the Higher Education Executive Board on December 26, 2018, and continues as a program under Business Administration.

Today, the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences continues its educational activities at the ANS Campus with five departments.
