Within the scope of the İŞKUR Youth Program, a Financial Literacy Training was delivered in two sessions on 27 February 2026 by Dr. Adem Böyükaslan, a faculty member of the Department of International Trade and Finance at our faculty.
The training, titled “What Are You Doing with Your Money?”, aimed to help young individuals make conscious and systematic decisions regarding money management. Topics such as the difference between salary increases and real income, the impact of inflation on savings, the minimum payment trap of credit cards, and the financial consequences of unconscious spending behaviors were discussed through concrete examples. Participants also had the opportunity to analyze the causes of common financial mistakes using numerical data and real-life scenarios.
In the second part of the training, financial planning tools such as the 50–30–20 budgeting rule, building an emergency fund, the long-term impact of compound returns, and the government contribution provided by the Individual Pension System (BES) were examined through practical examples. Additionally, interactive checklists were prepared to raise awareness about financial traps such as FOMO-driven investments, promises of guaranteed returns, and debt cycles.
The program concluded with participants identifying a concrete financial step and preparing a 30–60–90 day financial roadmap to guide their future financial decisions.
