Afyon Kocatepe University (AKÜ) Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences (FEAS) Finance Club organized a seminar titled “Social Media and Cybersecurity” as part of the faculty’s 50th-anniversary events.
The seminar, held at the Sabri Bektöre Conference Hall, was enriched by the participation of Prof. Dr. İhsan Cemil Demir, Dean of the Faculty of Law and Head of the Finance Department; Dr. Ali Balkı, Vice Dean of FEAS; as well as academic staff and students.
The event, conducted by the Cyber Crimes Division of the Afyonkarahisar Provincial Police Department, provided students with essential guidance on safe use of social media and the internet. Key points highlighted during the seminar included:
- Government institutions will never request passwords from citizens; instead, they may require mobile verification links or keypad inputs for certain procedures.
- In case of any adverse situations, students were advised to contact the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the police, or the gendarmerie.
- Important warnings were issued about not sharing obscene content under any circumstances.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all participants and the Cyber Crimes Division of the Afyonkarahisar Provincial Police Department for their valuable contributions to this meaningful event.
